Joyous Red Bottle

This vibrantly red, hand-built bottle was designed in honor of Henri Matisse; each side of the bottle is impressed with a joyous organic form, intended as a strong nod to the paper cutouts of Matisse. The bottle is created from soft stoneware slabs and impressed with a handmade wooden stamp. Each bottle is glazed in a vivid matte red; the base and impressed area are left natural and unglazed. This contrast is enhanced by an application of dark iron oxide over the impressions. Glazed on the inside, it holds approximately 20 ounces of water and makes a sturdy and unique vase. The bottle is signed on the bottom. Watertight Matte finish Ceramic: fired at cone 10, vitrified Signed by the artist Materials: Ceramic, Stoneware
